The Chelsea outcast who's won his place back in Frank Lampard's squad ahead of transfer window

When Ben Chilwell arrived at Chelsea in the summer it was obvious that he was always going to be the first choice left-back.

The England international has made an excellent start in west London after his £50million move from Leicester City.

However, the debate would be over who could be his back-up, with Marcos Alonso and Emerson Palmieri being the main options.

Lampard also went to club captain Cesar Azpilicueta last season to play in the role, with the Blues boss not wholly satisfied with his choices.

At the beginning of the 2020/21 campaign, Chilwell was recovering from an injury, so the space was up for grabs.

Lampard went for Alonso, with the Spaniard starting in the role for the opening three Premier League matches. However, it was that third one where he lost his spot.

The Blues were 3-0 down at West Brom and Alonso had a shocker, so Lampard took him off and replaced him with Azpilicueta.
