Econet moves back to Nigeria with $100 million Data Centre facility

  The Founder and Executive Chairman of Econet Global Limited, Strive Masiyiwa has disclosed that Africa Data Centre has commenced the construction of what it says will be Nigeria’s biggest Data Centre. The London-based Zimbabwean billionaire who asserted that a pandemic can’t stop the next phase of technology in Africa made this disclosure in an official pronouncement which he made public via his official Facebook account. He disclosed that the group had acquired a 5-acre piece of land in Lagos, where the facility, one of the largest buildings in the city would be constructed. The centre which he called the ADC Atlantic, is a $100 million investment in the Nigerian economy, He added that in Data Centre terms, the facility will be the single largest Data Centre in Africa outside South Africa. Governor Sanwo-Olu Unveils First Electric Car In Nigeria

  Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has unveiled Nigeria’s first locally-assembled full electric car manufactured by Stallion Group, Igbere TV reports. The Hyundai Kona car comes with zero emission, 482km driving range, and can be charged both at home and workplace. “With an innovation of Hyundai Kona, we do not need to put the pressure on what is the pump price of oil again, what is the pump price of petroleum again,” Mr Sanwo-Olu said on Friday. According to him, the state government will partner with Ibile Oil and Gas and other private organisations to create different charging points in the city, so that people will have where to charge the cars. In his address, Stallion Group Managing Director Rohtagi Manish said that the innovation was a step towards an eco-friendly green Lagos. Igbere TV learnt that the vehicle when fully charged for 9 hours 35 minutes can go a distance of 482km (the equivalent of Lagos to Warri) before it requires charging again.

WhatsApp launches new disappearing messages option

  WhatsApp is introducing a new disappearing messages option this month. The feature will allow WhatsApp users to enable disappearing messages on chat conversations between friends, to automatically delete messages after seven days. Anyone can enable the option in individual chats, and group admins will be able to enable disappearing messages in group chats. “We’re starting with 7 days because we think it offers peace of mind that conversations aren’t permanent, while remaining practical so you don’t forget what you were chatting about,” says a WhatsApp spokesperson. “The shopping list or store address you received a few days ago will be there while you need it, and then disappear after you don’t.” Disappearing messages will also wipe out photos and videos after seven days, and while messages will disappear for both parties it’s still possible to take screenshots or just simply copy messages before they’re automatically deleted.
